Never Leave Baby/Child Alone in Tub
If you hear the phone ring, remain with the child and you can tell them in a soothing voice “I hear the phone ringing. I will stay with you and that can be checked at a later time”. Even a small amount of water can do harm to children.
If you need to leave the room, carefully remove the baby from the water and wrap them in a towel and bring them with you.
Check Water Temperature
Check that the water temperature is at a safe level. It shouldn’t be hot, just warm to the touch. You can test the water temperature by dipping your elbow or wrist into the water.
Never rely on bath rings or seats to keep baby safe
There are lots of props and seats available to secure the baby in the bathtub. These are helpful and good to use, however none of them are foolproof.
Tipping Over - The suction cups unexpectedly release, allowing the device with baby to tip over into the water.
Entrapment - Baby slips between the legs of the bath ring and becomes trapped under water.
Climbing Out - Baby climbs out of the product and drowns.
Hold Baby Carefully
Lifting a wet baby from the bath is done by dominate hand on their belly and other hand on their back. Once seated, keep dominate hand on belly and slide the other hand to their outside leg and using thumb and pointer finger to go around leg. Then bring them up to your side.

IN THIS LESSON
Keep Baby Warm
If water is on their skin, their temperature is cooling. So quickly and gently dry the baby with a towel and get them into clothing.
